Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme

Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme boasts a thousand-year-old history. Its existence was first stated in the Gebardini Pacts, a document dated 1111 A.D.

This organization safeguards the people of the Valley and makes the most of their environmental, historical and cultural heritage. As caretaker of ancient laws and traditions, it nowadays manages a huge collective estate: about 20.000 hectares of land, mountains, pastures and forests. The forests are mainly spruce (Picea excelsis) and are run in accordance with written plans, which state when trees are to be felled or planted.

The main premises are in Cavalese. The impressive Renaissance palace in the middle of the town represents a first grade center of attraction for the cultural, historical and artistic life of the valley. The palace holds a relevant picture gallery and an archive which guards manuscripts, statutes and documents about the ancient history of Fiemme.
